Word Puzzles Contest 1

My first contest for this blog was extremely easy. There were only 3 participants and all of them got the correct answers to my riddles. So I hope this puzzles will prove to be more challenging.

The same rules apply. The first person to solve all five puzzles and give me the correct answers will get 100 EC credits.

Each puzzle box below portrays a common word or phrase. Can you guess what it is?

Let me give you an example.

Answer: Since the word HEAD is over the word HEELS, the answer to the puzzle would be HEAD OVER HEELS! Get it? That's great!

So don't wait, wake up your brain by having some more fun with the teasers below and solve the puzzles first to win 100 EC credits!

WOW! These are hard - I think I know the first one, but the rest are quite puzzling. A hint for others, if I'm right, look closely at the first one to figure it out! :)

well, here is a start:

1) MISSING YOU
2) SPACE INVADERS
3) SPLIT SECOND TIMING

now for the tricky ones:

4) TOO INTENSE?
5) MIDDLE EARTH?

well, it was worth a shot.

Good Try canucklehead. You've got 4 out of the 5 correct :)

Sorry no hints Antiz- Look deeply, deeply into the puzzle, the answer is there:)

Don't give up Hawksdomain, you just got 4 more to solve:)

Congrats English Advantage for solving the five puzzles (although with a bit of help from Canucklehead huh?)

Catherine, I hope you had a fun time solving the puzzles - unfortunately English Advantage beat you to the prize. Good luck next time.

Canucklehead, since you solved four of them, I'll give you a consolation prize of 50 Ec Credits.

Thanks everyone for trying out the puzzles. I'll try to make this a weekly challenge.

Hope to see all of you back to visit me often.

Glad canucklehead gets a consolation prize from you. Otherwise I would have shared. Great contest and a great blog. I'm an ESL teacher and the kinds of things you post are great for students because they are funny and interesting.

Just to let you know that if you look at the file name of those the answers are in them :)

Thanks for the tip, Sabriena. Next time I'll make sure that the file name will not include the answers.
Fortunately, all who participated were honest and I think ite more Fun and Challenging to figure out the answers without cheating:)
